Tell us about yourself
My name is Taylor Stump, and I’m the owner and founder of Little Miss Cupcape. My Story began in the spring of 2014 when I graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in business marketing and a minor in communications. While in college for business, I catered birthdays, graduation events, parties, and much more, but I always knew that I was missing out on my true aspirations as a baker. I envisioned an enchanting bakery where unique and crafty cupcakes met the beautiful scenery by the sea. Yet, it couldn’t be just any ocean. It had to be the Cape Cod seashore that I grew up loving!
When I was a child, summering on the Cod was a family tradition that I looked forward to every year. So, I was thrilled when my family decided to move to the Cape full-time. Halfway through my senior year of college, I realized I could not wait any longer to pursue my cupcake dreams. In partnership with my business-savvy mom and the help from my family, I was able to open my first Little Miss Cupcape on historic Main Street in Hyannis, Massachusetts, in June 2014. Ever since, I have become obsessed with baking . . . turning my daily routine into eat, sleep, bake, repeat! I love coming up with new, innovative ideas to make the perfect cupcake as unique and tasty as possible using only the purest ingredients and REAL butter!
Not only do my cupcakes taste great, but the detail and time that I put into each one make my cupcakes stand out from the rest. Baking has always brought me joy and has been a big part of my life, starting when I was a little girl with an Easy-Bake™ oven. Although I long ago outgrew using baking toys, I have found a true passion for cupcakes and feel so blessed to have started my first bakery in the heart of Cape Cod! I hope you will enjoy my cupcakes just as much as I enjoy making them for you! Creating Delight,
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Continuing to grow and spread sweetness every day!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The responsibility. Everything at the end of the day comes back to you. You are always navigating and making decisions for the company. Personally, I love it! It can be a lot at times, but doing what I love does not make it work for me. It is a passion!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Go with your gut. Listen to others lightly, but go with what your gut is telling you!
- Give yourself breathing room. Do not work 24/7. You will burn yourself out.
- Always find ways to better yourself and the company.
