Filling Your Homes With Love - Little Candle Company

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in candle-making but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Asia White, Owner of Little Candle Company, LLC, located in Ellenwood, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Little Candle Company is exactly that, a small business. Though my business is small, I create with the biggest heart! I hand create all of my products with all-natural, eco-friendly resources. I use 100% soy wax in my wax melts and candles (which include a hemp wick) and phthalate-free fragrance oils so that you receive the most eco-friendly products I have to offer.

I'm dedicated to creating a product that's safe for you and your environment but still gives you that luxury smell and feel.

Tell us about yourself

About two years ago, I found myself in the middle of a pandemic and not a candle in sight. I thought to myself, "if I can't go out to buy a candle, maybe I could try making one." So, I purchased my first candle-making kit from Amazon; from there, the rest is sort of history.

Candle making started as a hobby and turned into a passion. Although anyone can get a candle literally anywhere, I'm so grateful for the people I've met and the connections I've made through my business. The best thing in the world to me is watching customers' faces light up when smelling one of the fragrances or reading the reviews left under products on the website. These things make me feel like I'm making a small impact on the lives of others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a small business owner, every accomplishment is a big accomplishment. Every order, every product made, every connection made, every review received, everything is a big accomplishment. However, recently I was able to fulfill my first wholesale order. Go me!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing for me has been wearing all the hats. As a small business owner, I am the entire team. Learning to juggle my personal and business life has probably been the toughest.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start now - Don't wait until you feel like it's the right time or you feel like everything is perfect. Start while it's a mess, and I promise it'll all fall into place.
  2. Have patience - This is something I'm still working on. I'm learning that it's not about my timing; it's God's timing. I've not been given any more than I can handle. I might want a multimillion-dollar business now, but I can't handle that type of business now. Until then, I'm patient.
  3. Have fun, make mistakes, and celebrate your wins and growth.
