What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am Lisa Scala of Lisa Scala Jewelry, and I am an intuitive jeweler, designer, and metalsmith. I create designs to honor our whole being. My handcrafted jewelry emphasizes harmony and balance through gemstones, metalwork, and crystals. Each piece is infused with spiritual meaning and a connection with the natural world and becomes your piece upon wearing, infusing you with elegant power and joyful energy.

Designed with Soulful Intention! That's my tagline and what creating jewelry has always been all about for me.
I have been designing and metalsmithing for over three decades. One of the things I pride myself on in both life and work is the infusion of healing and spirituality into everything I do. My designs are inspired by the subtle beauty all around us as well as our strength within. Personally, I am inspired, driven, and moved through chakras and the phases of the moon and seasons, and I believe that every woman is a goddess and deserves to be treated as such.
My journey started at a young age when I was diagnosed with Dyslexia. I found solace in art. Art made sense to me. Colors and designs swirled in my mind, dancing off the paper and out of the stones. The day I realized not everyone saw the world the way I did, was the day I realized that Dyslexia was more than a label for me… It was my superpower, and I needed to embrace it!
I dove head-first into the art world. All things art – sculpture, painting, jewelry, metal-smithing, and design. I went to college at Maine College of Art and received a degree in jewelry and metalsmithing. My confidence was growing, and the possibilities were unfolding.
Fast forward to the present, I am a successful businesswoman with my own gallery in Georgetown, MA. I've received multiple awards from art organizations, seen my jewelry featured at high-end galleries across the United States, and run an apprentice program for aspiring jewelers. Today, I own my Dyslexia and have made it work for me instead of against me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is that I am continually reinventing myself as the world shifts. Throughout my years in business, I have worked through many changes (pandemic, economy, personal) and always trust in my instincts.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about having your own business is that you can be your own worst enemy. It's way too easy to get in your own head or take on too many things spreading yourself too thin. As a creative person, staying focused can be a challenge, so I often remind myself to slow down, step back and try to see things in a new light.
