BioMechanic Physical Therapy - Lisa Allen
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lisa Allen, owner of BioMechanic Physical Therapy, located in Leesburg, VA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business offers a more comprehensive, whole-body slant to physical therapy. We correct your body mechanics -- hence the name -- because exercise only is rarely the best solution. At BioMechanic Physical Therapy, our techniques are founded in your body mechanics from when your foot hits the ground and then up through your knees, hips, and beyond. A common example is when overpronation in the foot causes knee pain. Maybe you just need new shoes - not a knee operation. We can help sort that out.
Our Doctors of Physical Therapy ensure that the physics of you are optimized to get to the reason why you:
- Developed a problem that came on slowly.
- What body mechanics may have been thrown off by your injury or surgery.
We use precise tools to measure, our analytical minds to solve the problem, and our hands to restore you to perfect! We are a manual therapy clinic that also uses the latest in technology.
We know it is important to address your symptoms now, but more importantly -- to also correct the source of your pain. This makes you feel better now - and it prevents your problem from coming back.
Tell us about yourself
As a physical therapist, I wanted to offer the highest quality and most advanced and results-driven techniques. And what proves my theory is right is that my team of physical therapists and I win the "Best Of" every year for both locations. When people tell me they have been to many places without results (PT, Chiro, MD, etc.), and then we give them "the difference between night and day," -- that is what motivates me. It is something to live for!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Running a financially successful practice that is better than the places that are money-driven. I now have 30 employees.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The roller coaster. Tons of money, no money, sudden staffing losses, and most annoying of all, control of me and my business by the government.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be strong. Persistence is the most important trait. Trust yourself. Always be prepared to lose everything, and you know you can weather anything and survive.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Having your own business is for a special personality type. If you want easy and steady, be an employee.
