What's your business, and who are your customers?

Linguabilities is a boutique telepractice company serving school districts and outpatient families. We focus on making the difference we want in online education and healthcare by hiring passionate therapists who are passionate about high-quality telepractice, continuing our education in the field, and working to build long-lasting relationships with our clients.

Tell us about yourself

I'm licensed as a speech-language pathologist, so I started doing part-time outpatient work just driving around to clients' homes in Chicago. We've since expanded to focus on the online delivery of our services and all particular education fields, such as school psychology and related services. Making a difference in the lives of my customers is what motivates me each day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is overseeing a fantastic team of therapists who care about our clients. I find it a privilege to work with them each day and see the tremendous results we get.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think the hardest thing is the responsibility involved. As a business owner, the buck always stops with me when we have any issues arise, and I take pride in taking responsibility for fixing things actionably.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I'd recommend starting small, talking with mentors and coaches, and learning new skills. As a business owner, you will wear lots of hats, and it's essential to take on doable tasks with the help of those who have done it before. You'll teach yourself new skills every day as you start to navigate the ins and outs of the business.
