Reclaim Your Life From OCD - Lindsay McGovern

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lindsay McGovern LCSW, MSW, an OCD & Anxiety Therapist based in Mount Laurel, NJ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a private practice therapist who helps millennial women reclaim their life from OCD by finding peace from their intrusive thoughts and feelings.

Tell us about yourself

I do this work because I know the automatic intrusive thoughts and feelings take people away from what they value most when they have OCD. OCD is a vicious cycle, and breaking free can feel daunting. My mom struggled with OCD throughout her life and never received specialized OCD therapy. I have seen firsthand the emotional toll OCD takes on one’s life.

After working in mental health for almost two decades in many capacities, I became passionate about working with women struggling with OCD. I developed my signature framework, PEACE from OCD, to help women escape the emotional suffering that OCD inflicts. It is my goal to help women find peace & acceptance in their life and have more time & energy for what they value most.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is helping those with OCD regain their life back. It brings me such fulfillment to see others living the life they were meant to lead. I feel very proud to own a business that is not only financially successful but also helps others lead more satisfying peaceful lives.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about owning a business is time management and prioritizing tasks. There are a lot of moving parts in owning and running a business. I have learned that having systems in place is necessary for a vital, growing business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Invest in a business coach.
  2. Do the internal work of shifting from a scarcity mindset to abundance mindset.
  3. Be patient. Growth takes time.
