What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a business mentor for online coaches.
Tell us about yourself
I started health coaching in 2010 after a 90-pound weight loss journey. Something sparked inside me, and I realized how much I loved helping others feel better about themselves. That slowly evolved into business coaching around 2015. Since then, I've had three kids and built a multi-six-figure business. All while working a full-time job and homeschooling them too. I have a full plate, and my kids motivate me to do what I do every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The fact that I've built this while working and homeschooling still surprises me to this day!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Not having enough time! Sometimes I joke that we could get a lot more done every day if we didn't have to sleep! But, seriously, I've learned the hard way. I've had a full calendar of clients and long days, and one day I had to decide that that was not what I pictured when I started this business. So I had to do a lot of cleaning up and tightening my boundaries so I could maintain and grow what I had. It was a difficult transition but oh so worth it.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
There is so much advice out there on building a business, so I want to challenge you to sift through it all and do what feels right for you and your family. There is no wrong way to do this. The right way is going to be right for you. Give it time and faith in what you're building. And make sure you have some sort of support.
