What's your business, and who are your customers?

I paint and sell southwestern landscapes to folks who love to surround themselves with the stunning beauty of nature and enjoy the internal peace the art brings them. I also teach those who want to express themselves creatively while helping them feel happier and enough, both in person and online. I teach locally at Scottsdale Artists' School and through Free Arts and lead small retreats throughout the Southwest.

Tell us about yourself

I've always loved to draw and be creative but, like many, suffered from feelings of unworthiness. Drawing and painting unlocked a wonderful path to wholeness and joy. This motivates me each day to paint for myself as well as lead others to it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have helped thousands of children and adults express themselves creatively and heal through intentional art projects. I've helped folks to release and nurture their inner artist through art, movement, writing, and play.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

It is hard to be constantly evolving and wearing so many different hats.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be crystal clear on your motivation and goal.
  2. Be willing to ask for help if needed.
  3. Keep regular business hours, and don't forget to take time off (self-care).
