Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in training and education but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Linda Campbell, Co-Owner of The Ascension Center for Higher Consciousness, located in Ladysmith, BC, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
At the Ascension center, we offer training to people who want to elevate their consciousness, work with their own subconscious mind (or with the SC of other people), and develop abilities such as accessing information using non-locality, telepathy, and remote viewing.
Tell us about yourself
I have been working as a Hypnotherapist since 1999 and have been training hypnotherapists at my school, The Horizon Center, since 2004. I have helped 1000s of clients with symptoms such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, insomnia, and unhealthy habits. It has been a rewarding and fulfilling career, and I feel honored to be entrusted by my clients to help them achieve their goals.
When the pandemic hit, I had plenty of time to dig deeper into topics that have always been an interest of mine, like remote viewing, non-locality, the nature of time and space, the use of frequencies for healing, the science behind psychic development, quantum physics, and quantum mechanics and ancient wisdom teachings.
I started to realize that while hypnotherapy allows us to tap into our own subconscious mind, as well as into the collective consciousness and the Source, there are also many other latent talents and abilities that humans possess that we are only now beginning to understand. So, my husband and I opened the Ascension Center with the intention of it being a place where people could get training, resources, and tools to help them develop these abilities and skills.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Having hundreds of students who I have trained to do effective client-centered Hypnotherapy.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Isolation - when I first started doing Hypnotherapy, it was not well understood. I felt like a black sheep and also missed the community I had prior to when I was a teacher. So, I created my own community.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get connected to like-minded people. Join or start a community so that you have support, a place to vent or get ideas, and people who will have your back if things get tough.
- Be persistent. I thought my business was going to take off because I made one post or wrote one article. People need to hear about you and from you many times before they will be ready to work with you. Make marketing your full-time job until such time that you have enough clients or work - and then make it a part-time job ;)
- Have balance in your life. Make sure that your business does not take away from the people and pastimes that are important to you. Take time off. Take mental health days. Spend time with family and friends. Having balance is very important, and the time away from work allows you to come back to it with a fresh perspective.
