Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with William Butler, CEO of Life's Realities LLC., located in Westborough, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an author of nonfiction books that focus on real-life events and choices which can lead to a good quality of life or personal catastrophes. My books focus on action plans and knowledge transfer to recover from these life-threatening crises. Research and real people testimonials so good advice is provided to make good choices on critical life decisions and recovery from life’s impactive happenings. The contents are all real people, places, events, and occurrences. My second book's audience is medical professionals and individuals making serious medical decisions. The third book is directed at people on the street, substance abuse, and real-life homeless, ending in uplifting actions to create hope and recovery. All real events, people, and places.

Tell us about yourself

I am the CEO of Life’s Realities LLC. I was an honor student at Syracuse University, a successful high technology sales executive, and instrumental in starting two successful business intelligence startups. I hold a 2nd-degree black belt in Ed Parker’s Kenpo Karate. I was motivated by events in my personal life and meeting and interacting which street people, patients, and medical personnel. True life. My quote: "readers and the audience must know what is going on with the homeless."

In the second book, I was motivated by hospitals giving me 3 deadly infections (spine and both hips), 11 operations, 12 physical rehabs, 6 specialty surgeons, and 5 hospitals. My experience can be avoided, and I let people know how my situation and how the right surgeons saved me and all the patients, nurses, and doctors in my travels. I recovered through hope and focus. I am back.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Getting emails and reviews stating that the knowledge transfer changed their life course and choice impacted their life positively. Endorsements from famous people and experts. For example, one person walked up to me and said, "you saved my life."

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being able to accept disappointment. Wanting to walk away. Understanding all types of personalities and what motivates them. Not being defeated by rejection.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Set your goals, expectations, and what you want the result to be.
  2. Always keep focused and think "out of the box."
  3. Set a financial budget and realistic goals.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I want to share samples of my quotes:

"Hope leads to planning, planning leads to actions, actions lead to success."

"You can not go back and change events, but you can make the rest of your life happier and better."

"Fighting a disease includes due diligence. Yes, you must trust the professionals, but only if you have consulted and interviewed their "equals."
