What's your business, and who are your customers?
I founded LifeDNA in 2017 to solve the lack of personalization in health and wellness. Since then, LifeDNA has helped tens of thousands of users optimize their health through the power of DNA testing. The business has evolved, and now LifeDNA is empowering the biggest brands in health and wellness to innovate through personalization to better serve their customers.
Tell us about yourself
I was born in Lebanon and lived there until I was eleven years old. Then my parents uprooted our whole family and moved to Ottawa, Canada. I had to learn English and French at the same time alongside my brother. We didn't have much, so I started earning money to help support the family when I was a teenager. As an immigrant, I didn't have a network to call on for help, so I had to do it myself – that's how I got started as an entrepreneur. I'm motivated every day to help people reach their full potential. Our DNA is the blueprint of who we are, and unlocking its secrets can be extremely powerful.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Growing LifeDNA from nothing to having multiple millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Knowing the right time to make tough decisions. Every CEO understands that they'll have to make tough choices at one point or another. Finding the right time and balancing those tough choices against the overall goals of the company is difficult.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have the mindset of 'I need to figure it out, or else.'
- Be process-oriented at every step along the way.
- Stick with what works.
