Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with John Lillis, founder, and president of Lifeboat Coffee CO., located in Phoenix, AZ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
As a Veteran, I am proud to run a coffee roastery, cafe & online retail coffee store! We use our profits to support groups that save human lives from crisis pregnancy centers to disabled vets and nursing homes, etc. Our customers are bifurcated into local Sunnyslope Arizona customers and a National online retail customer base for coffees ordered from the online store.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating jobs to help the neighborhood.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Creating jobs to help the neighborhood. The hardest thing is pushing forward each and every day, overcoming dozens of challenges and obstacles along the way.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First, don't be afraid. Second, push into a space rife with both opportunity and competition - and be the best! Lastly, KEEP GOING, no matter how hard, when it seems like it is time to throw in the towel and quit -- STAY!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Business is about creating opportunities for others first. If you can focus on that, you'll win the day. Also, if you love Life and Gourmet Coffee, please consider supporting our Veteran and Family owned and operated business.
