Vegan Products, Recipes, and Lifestyle - Life, Veganized

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stefanie Stevens, Founder of Life, Veganized, located in Denver, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I run an online brand called Life, Veganized. I manage pages on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, where I teach others the importance of veganism, how to implement it into their lives, and how to thrive as a vegan. I collaborate with vegan-friendly companies (food, beauty, skincare, household products, etc.) to introduce their products to my followers and help grow their businesses, as well.

Tell us about yourself

Professionally, I started with a background in social media marketing and networking. I also went vegan at a young age. I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur, so combining two things that I love to do and I'm good at felt like a natural next step. As far as what motivates me, veganism isn't only a passion of mine, but it definitely has such a deep meaning to me. Educating others about veganism and making a positive impact is priceless to me. I'm helping individuals with their personal health, saving the lives of animals, and reducing the negative effects that humanity has on the environment, not only by practicing what I preach but also by helping others make these positive changes.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

To me, my biggest accomplishment is the lives I've touched. I am practicing doing everything with intention. With each opinion piece I write or each food dish I post, I always try to make sure I'm teaching someone something or inspiring someone with my content. When people approach me, online or in person, and they tell me that I've helped them become vegan, or stay vegan, or they want to start, and they're asking me questions about it, that's the best feeling right there.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being scared all the time! I am doing things with my business now that I never thought I'd have the guts to do, and only a year ago, I had no idea how to do them. Just saying "my business" is something I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to say before. You're totally on your own, if you need help or guidance, you can find it, but you have to look for it. There's no one there holding your hand or telling you what you should or shouldn't do. I do have some people in my life who are entrepreneurs, or really good at social media marketing, or they're vegan, but everyone's path is different, so when it comes down to it, you can take advice from others, but all the decisions (and mistakes) are yours to make on your own.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Change your mindset. Listen to podcasts of motivational speakers and also develop a spiritual practice. So often, it's our minds that hold us back more than anything else. People come up from nothing all the time; if you get your mind right, sit in silence regularly and listen to what's inside you, that's all you need to change your life.
  2. Research everything you don't know how to do. Whether it's specific skills for your field or filing taxes, literally Google it so you can do it or hire someone else to do it. You do that, and nothing can stop you.
  3. Make a list of things you would be doing "if" you had the time/money/courage to be running a business right now (look into specific topics that you would need to learn about, create business proposals and reach out to potential clients, start a website, etc.) and then instead of waiting, start doing those things now, even just one thing at a time. Just start.
