Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with KarFei Cheah, Founder of Life Redesigned, located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am in the business of transformation. I worked with professionals and organizations to help them transform from the inside out. Over the past 10 years, my team and I have had the opportunity to work with clients ranging from multinational companies to professionals who want to improve and become better in their lives.

Tell us about yourself

10 years, 20 countries, ten of thousands of lives impacted, I am still on a mission to coach and develop 1 million people to succeed in all aspects of life. I truly believe that for anyone to succeed in life, there is one important question to ask on our deathbed, "Have I really lived?". And this is not measured by the money we made in our lifetime, the title we have from our job, or the number of businesses we have started.

With my coaching, seminar, keynote, and training, I have helped individuals, entrepreneurs, and corporations to redesign what success should look like and how we can help everyone to thrive in their lives. What really gets me going is the ability to do what matters to me and knowing that what I do will have a ripple effect on more people and things they touch (their businesses, employers, partners, children, and society).

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The fact that I am able to stay in the coaching industry for 10 years is a massive achievement. There are many coaches and trainers out there who struggled to keep their practice going because they could not make it work out for them financially.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Managing a team and the uncertainty of sales and revenue, considering the fact that I am in a service business. The revenue pipeline is something that's at the back of my head almost consistently, and that is emotionally and mentally challenging.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know clearly who you are selling to and what they want. There are tons of businesses out there, and if you aren't clear about who you are serving, you will be selling to no one.
  2. Conviction beats passion long term. Most people think passion is what they need to be successful, but that is not true. Passion gets you started, and it gets you excited, but conviction and belief in what you do/sell will get you far in life.
  3. Be the best version of yourself every day. I believe that a good successful business is a reflection of the founder/person running it. If you want to start and grow a business, you need to make sure that you are growing on par with how fast the business can and will grow. You need to grow first before the business does, always.
