Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sharon Crossett, Founder of Life Coaching for Women, located in Wrexham, UK.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Life Coach who works 1-1 with women to get greater clarity and results from their life. My clients are looking to change their life but are unsure of the direction to take. We investigate what is holding them back, their limiting beliefs, and the doubts that are keeping them trapped. During our sessions, we use tools to achieve the results that they are looking for in their life, giving them the confidence to continue to grow after their sessions have ended.
Tell us about yourself
I spent 25 years in retail and developed a natural skill for active listening. I love talking to people and listening to what they have to say. My clients are my passion and serving them in the best way possible. After closing my retail business in 2015, I knew I still wanted to do something centered on other people, and Life Coaching for Women was born. I felt the time was right for a change and an overhaul in my life, moving out of my comfort zone and jumping into a new challenge head-on. I have developed over the years a very empathetic coaching style, encouraging clients to aim for what they truly want in life and to get the best out of themselves. I am motivated to stay on top of my game by training and researching new modalities to bring my clients the best that the coaching world has to offer. My coaching approach is simply to listen to what the client has to say and then provide solutions-based tools to implement into their lives to get them back on track as soon as possible. Coaching brings me so much fulfillment and joy. Aiding my clients to reach their full potential and change their lives is truly the most rewarding job, which I approach with 100% commitment.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Having a business that I love and that helps and inspires other women to have lives that they love.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Being a solo business owner means that you have to wear every hat in your business; therefore, juggling everything and not getting overwhelmed can be tricky. The key is good organization and balance and staying realistic about what you can achieve.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- You need to have belief in yourself and what you are doing. They are always going to be times when you are a business owner when you can doubt yourself and what you are doing; you need to keep believing in yourself and keep moving forward.
- Be realistic about what you are doing. Successful businesses take time and commitment. Don't expect to be an overnight success; keep focused and determined, and it will happen.
- Running a solo business can be tricky at times, so if help or advice is offered to you, take it. It is always good to have the opinion of someone you trust and someone to discuss your business with.
