Home of the Original Moon Clock - Liberato
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Victoria Strong, CEO of Liberato, located in Phoenix, AZ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I design ritual goods for the moon obsessed. Our most popular product is our Moon Clocks, which track the phases of the moon for astrology girlies, magick practitioners, and anyone who loves living in natural rhythms.
Tell us about yourself
I started my business as a retail shop in 2018 as a school project. I incrementally pivoted it as I learned more about the industry and myself until it became what it is today- a spiritual lifestyle brand with 100% original products. I get a rush with every order knowing someone's sacred space is about to become even more cute and connective.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I'm proud that because of what I've built, I'm able to hire really cool people. I love the idea that I'm helping funnel more money into the hands of women and, therefore, more money into the world because women are the top spenders and philanthropists in our country. I want everyone who comes in contact with my business, from freelancers to employees to followers to customers, to get an impact positively.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The mental toll of the ups and downs, the uncertainty, and even just getting over the hurdle of believing it's possible can be tremendously difficult. I think of quitting and getting an easier job often, but ultimately I never do because my business is more than a job for me; it is part of my life's work.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start on TikTok. That is currently your best shot at growing fast and reaching a huge audience.
- Build a business you want to own, not one you think you should own. There are infinite ways to run a business, and anyone who says they know the "right way" is full of it.
- Treat it all as one big experiment and take your failures as lighthearted learning experiences rather than a reflection of your worth and abilities.
