What's your business, and who are your customers?
I provide high-quality relationship coaching services to individuals who are looking to build happy, thriving relationships and want to experience more love in their lives. I assist caring, capable women to get clear on how they can end relationship struggles and build meaningful connections with others. This includes improving the connection they have with themselves.
Tell us about yourself
All of my life experiences, my personal struggles, as well as my education and work experience have led me to this point. I have spent decades guiding others toward positive changes in my work as a psychotherapist, but my real credentials come from my personal healing journey. Like so many people, I had several relational traumas growing up. My dad left my mom when I was just three. This left my mom a single mom of four kids. She went off to work, and my three brothers and I were on our own. I reached adulthood, unsure of myself and unprepared for the real world.
I had a tenacious drive to heal and grow. Becoming a mental health therapist was only the beginning. I read personal development books like my life depended on them. I sat countless hours on a meditation cushion. I went to workshops where I karate chopped boards in half. I became a yoga instructor. I hiked through Peru with Shamans. All of this healing work was in the service of feeling whole complete, and lovable again.
The coaching practice was born one day when I saw a small baby who radiated pure innocence and love. I stared at this little angel who warmed my heart. I could see his wholeness, his worth, and perfection. This exists in each and every person but often gets buried under moments when we aren't cherished by others. When others don't see our worth, we don't see it.
It became my mission to connect people with the never-ending stream of love that surges through them and between them. It's always there, but people don't always feel it. Life has a way of disconnecting people from their own values, which makes it impossible for them to take the steps they need to take to experience deeper levels of love with others. Love is what makes life worth living. I cannot think of much more important in life than helping others embrace their ability to have rewarding healthy love relationships, both with themselves and others.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating the Redefining Love coaching program. This is a semi-structured coaching program that guides people to identify what no longer serves them in relationships and gets them clear on what steps to take to have satisfying relationships.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Trusting yourself as a decision maker and business owner. There are many experts out there claiming to know the best way for a business owner to build their business. There are learning programs on everything from website copy and Instagram Reels to email marketing and networking. This has a ton of value. But, in the end, you are the decision maker, and you need to look within for the best way to proceed, trusting your own wisdom and your own desires.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make space (physical workspace and time in your schedule) for the new business venture.
- Expect it to take time. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
- Commit and re-commit. Stay with it!
