What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an internal business systems consultant and specialize in working with small businesses delivering digital programs and services.
Tell us about yourself
I started my business, pivoting from digital learning systems and instructional design in higher education to service a new client base. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs and small business owners. These are my people. I love working just as hard as they do to develop a dream into reality.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Digging deep to never give up. Business ownership is like self-growth BootCamp that never ends. As a professional educator, I didn't know anything about marketing, sales, or bookkeeping. But, I am an expert at learning, and that's a skill that has served me the most on this journey.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Blocking out the noise. I spent years listening to every business podcast, reading every entrepreneurial book, and taking digital business programs. Although I learned something from each, the hardest part was blocking out the advice to listen to what felt right for me. From listening to myself, I identified a service that comes so naturally to me; it's laughable. I'm not kidding, my husband and I have SOPs to streamline managing our household.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
If you can't stop thinking about that business, it was meant for you. There is a wealth of knowledge available to you for free but follow your gut the most. Finally, a single business started with just an offer, so put one out into the world and see what happens.
