What's your business, and who are your customers?
Mason Educational Consulting Services is an educational firm that offers a full continuum of services from K thru Corporate. As a firm, our clientele is very diverse. However, we operate with one mission, which is to create inclusive and accessible environments for all. Whether it's a parent seeking Educational Advocacy Services, a company or organization looking to expand and strengthen their IDEA initiatives, or a working professional seeking Strengths-Based Coaching, our staff are licensed and certified in their respective areas. We believe that differences in gender, race, ability, religion, culture, age, region, country, etc., should not serve as a barrier to opportunity but be celebrated, understood, recruited, and retained. Our headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia; however, we have clients across the country.
Tell us about yourself
My background is in education, accessibility, and regulations. I have always been a champion for diversity, access, and opportunity. I have served in many leadership roles over the years, and I have seen firsthand how diversity drives creativity and innovation. I want to help other organizational leaders see that as well. I'm motivated by change, possibility, and a desire to see transformation in hiring practices, education, business, banking, and entertainment, basically, in all aspects of society. I believe it is happening and will continue to grow through this important work.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I am proud to be a Woman-Owned, Minority-Owned business and owner of one of the few Educational Firms in the country.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
You really have to learn how to reach potential clients through creative marketing. You can have the best company that no one has ever heard of if you aren't reaching your target audience.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't wait for everything to be perfect. Just do it!
- Stick with it and give it time to manifest. Don't give up!
- Believe in yourself and in your company.
