What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a sustainable body image coach. I've created an online program that helps women ages 35-65 develop a new relationship with food and their bodies. I provide practical mindfulness tools to empower women to know when they are hungry or full and how to eat food without shame or guilt. In addition, I lead women through a process of doing deeper emotional work. This is crucial to break negative/critical thinking about themselves, their worth, their bodies, etc., and learn how to live authentically in life and in relationships. This process can and does lead to weight loss, although that is not my guarantee. My guarantee is the ability for women to love themselves from the inside out and appreciate the beauty they bring into the world (inside and out).

Tell us about yourself

I began in 2004 in private practice as a licensed clinical psychologist. My specialty was and still is eating disorders. My practice expanded over the years to also include specializing in trauma. Through my work with clients, as well as my own personal journey recovering from an eating disorder and horrible body image issues, I felt compelled to help other women get to the other side of this torture in their bodies and with food. Right when COVID hit, I decided to open a coaching business where I could help, guide, and support women through my program. Instead of being able to support women one on one in my private practice, I can now help more women at once in a group setting. As a coach, I'm also free to help women all over the world, not just in beautiful Colorado. Since launching, my greatest achievement is when women tell me how free they feel, how they can finally look at themselves in the mirror and love what they see. This is the greatest reward. I know what it's like to be free of society's pressures. I know what it is like to do the deeper work and finally love myself. To be able to guide and support women in that same process is the greatest blessing and fuels my fire on a daily basis!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My greatest accomplishment is not only helping women lose weight, but more importantly, I help women have a healthy relationship with food and their bodies. They learn how to prioritize themselves. They learn what they feel and experience matters. They learn who they are and where their worth truly comes from. They transform their insides so that what they see in the reflection is true beauty and gratitude.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is all the behind-scenes work that has to be done. Keeping up with social media, keeping up with writing and making sure I am providing helpful content and making sure I'm investing wisely so that I can be the most productive and efficient in finding the right women who really want to make these changes.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

For anyone looking to start, run, and/or grow a business today, make sure you have the right coach guiding you in the product/service you offer. Make sure you are creating constant content and care about people more than the profits.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I love what I do. I am so grateful every day I have the privilege to teach what I'm passionate about. I truly see it as a privilege to be invited into women's lives and help them love themselves, often for the very first time in their lives.
