What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a locally owned small retail 100% dedicated Gluten-free bakery. We serve many folks, including celiacs, those with dietary restrictions (i.e., dairy), anyone interested in eating less gluten, and just about everyone else. Our primary target audience is celiacs, as there are few options for those who cannot eat gluten, but we do get many customers who can eat just about anything but love good food and love supporting small businesses.
Tell us about yourself
I am a fully trained pastry chef with over 30 years of experience. When I developed an allergy to wheat/gluten, I could no longer work with gluten-based flour. Seeking out alternative bread and pastries to include in my new diet, I was extremely disappointed in the available products on the market, and her "gluten-free baking lab" was born. With many friends and families, encouragement 'Lemonade' was born. When life hands you lemons, make Lemonade!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Lemonade gluten-free bakery and figuring out how to make all of my favorite baked goods gluten-free and have them taste just as good as regular gluten-based goods.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The long hours. Owning a business is a 24/7 obligation. It is not something someone should get into if they are not prepared to dedicate all of their time to success. Keeping it a success is a constant task.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Love what you do! Perseverance is key to success and keeping those customers happy.

Owning a business is a very rewarding venture, but it is hard work, so be prepared.
