Tell us about yourself
I had been working in a major pharmaceutical company in technology, and higher-ups realized I was very good with people. After taking on various responsibilities in both areas, I realized I wanted to be self-employed. I took the plunge and never looked back. It was challenging, exciting, constant growth, and hard work. When you love what you do, each day of work motivates you!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was starting with nothing and building it into a very successful business that helped so many in their jobs. Secondly, I wrote and published a book that continues to sell! See my YouTube channel for videos.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Marketing for the future when you are already busy. Most stop marketing when they are busy and then experience a big lull. Always spend time marketing even when you are busy.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Realize that starting a business is more a change of lifestyle than a change of career. You constantly work to build it.
- If you are married with a family, make sure that the family is in support of your enterprise.
- Social media is essential for most business growth today. Find the right venue and stream for your business.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
When you start a business, stay alert in the first six months on whether it is as viable as you thought it would be. Be ready to change your business plan, and don't feel locked in for fear that others will think you lack commitment. Think with a business mind.
