What's your business, and who are your customers?
Le Detroit Macaron is a French patisserie located in a small town called Hamtramck! Our customers are our family! We love the relationships that we have been able to develop over the years and hope that we are a ray of sunshine to every person that walks in our door!
Tell us about yourself
I always had a love for baking and a BIG dream of owning my own business one day, but I had no idea that my dream would become a reality at the early age of 18. I had just graduated high school and had no idea how to run a business, but I knew how to make macarons and bring smiles to people! I am so thankful for my fellow business owner friends who walked those early days with me and gave me advice on every step I took. I want my customers to come into the shop and not only get delicious macarons but leave feeling loved and appreciated by our team! We wouldn't be where we are today without our amazing customers!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
One of my biggest accomplishments would be running my business and being so young. I faced a lot of challenges and learned a lot in those beginning years, and I am thankful that I kept pushing in those hard days. Now I have the best team of girls that I get to work with every day, and they make our work environment so much fun!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is, believing in yourself that you can do it. It isn't always sunshine and roses, and some days are hard. But you have to remember why you are doing it all! I hope that we continue to give macarons and smiles for years to come!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start your business in something that you are passionate about! Money isn't always everything. Don't go into something you aren't educated in! Take the time and research!
- Delegate those tasks! If you need to be doing more important things, hire people who can take the stress off of you with those small tasks!
- Hire an accountant! You will never regret that decision! Finances can be so confusing, so pass them along to someone who is educated and knowledgeable about it!
