Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alena Le Blanc, founder and stylist of Le Blanc Label, located in Castro Valley, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Le Blanc Label, a personal styling company. I help women who are opening up a new chapter in their lives and feel their closet does not represent who they are anymore. I empower them through style and help them step into the shoes of the women they’re meant to be. By working together, their mornings can go from chaotic, overwhelming, with clothes thrown on the bed and just grabbing something random from the closet, to walking out the door feeling like a badass, showing up at work looking like the talented professional that they are, and transpiring confidence throughout their whole day. I support my clients in giving them the tools that they need to make style decisions on their own. I’m there to guide them in a very loving and supportive way to try things that they wouldn’t try by themselves.
Tell us about yourself
My background is in fashion design. I worked in the fashion tech industry for five years until 2020, when my company filed for bankruptcy. That was a blessing in disguise because it forced me to step out of my comfort zone and propelled me to do what I was meant to do, which is give women the confidence they need to succeed. I started Le Blanc Label at the end of 2020 and have grown so much as a woman myself. Every day I am motivated by the positive impact I am creating in the world. If I can help women feel good about themselves, inspire others, and share helpful information, I know I am making an impact.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is the amount of learning and growth I experience daily. I start every day with my morning rituals (reading, meditating, and journaling), and that truly impacts how my day will be. I have worked on so much personal development and growth over the last year, and I am most proud of that. I am always evolving, and that's the best accomplishment for me! There is always more to learn and more people to help.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Personally, one of the hardest parts of being a business owner is doing things I have never done before, LOTS of new things I have never done before. My background is in fashion design, not business- and every day, I am stepping into new roles inside of my business, marketing, bookkeeping, social media, and content creation; it's all-new. It sometimes can be a little frustrating, but when I feel overwhelmed or afraid, I have a mantra I say which is "My impact is far greater than any fear I will have." That keeps me going.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find a mentor! This has been groundbreaking for me. My mentor is amazing, she has helped me grow my business over the past year, and I am so grateful to have someone to go to and seek advice from.
- Work on your mindset. This is crucial to your success. If you don't have a good mindset, people can feel that energy. Your energy goes out into everything you do. That's why I start my day with my morning rituals.
- Find a community- Starting a business can be very lonely and mind-boggling at times. If you have a community of like-minded individuals who are focused on supporting and uplifting one another, you will grow and achieve amazing things together!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
One of the focuses of my business is around sustainability. I want to help create consciousness around buying items and fast fashion. I work to educate my clients on the importance of buying quality items that will last for a long time and avoid waste from the fashion industry.
