Be Inspired! - Lawson Learning Academy
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in training and education but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kimberly Lawson, CEO of Lawson Learning Academy, LLC., located in Fayetteville, GA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Lawson Learning Academy, LLC is a boutique consulting firm for small businesses, schools, nonprofits, and corporations.
Tell us about yourself
So I am a Fractional COO & Business Strategist. As unbelievable as it sounds, I had my first "job" when I was three years old, working for two small businesses. Then at the age of 13, I started my business, and by the age of 16, I was helping small business owners make millions. However, it wasn't until 2019 that I began to view the work I was doing as being worthy enough to be considered a business. On May 1, 2019, Lawson Learning Academy, LLC was born, and as they say, the rest is history. My passion for the work I do is my daily motivator to try a little harder, stay at my desk a little longer, and give my clients a little more of myself. I know that the work I am doing is changing lives and building legacies. I don't believe a greater motivator exists.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment since starting Lawson Learning Academy, LLC, is seeing how my work is inspiring my own children.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The responsibility of being a business owner is very challenging. Everything is all on you, win, lose, or draw. At times the weight of that responsibility can be overwhelming. I have employees now, so if my business fails, not only will my household suffer, but other families will suffer as well. That thought is heavy.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Business is personal. In business, you are dealing with an individual's time and money, which will always be personal. Understand that fact and act accordingly.
- Do not start your business for monetary gain. If you are passionate about the work you are doing and give it your all, money will come.
- Give back as often as possible. I firmly believe, "to whom much is given; much is required," it is essential always to give back and help someone else. Do not keep your success story a secret.
