Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Laura Gallagher, Founder of Place in the Middle, located in Angus, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My purpose is to help you find yourself through yoga, meditation, and coaching:

  • To guide you toward finding your own purpose
  • To inspire and uplift you along the way
  • To give you the tools to help you through everyday challenges of life
  • And to find ease in the difficult.

All these techniques, and more, will be your training ground for your everyday life. My clients are anybody and anyone looking to live a happier and healthier lifestyle!

Tell us about yourself

I found yoga in 2014. I originally started practicing yoga to lose my baby weight, become healthier, and learn to be still in the busyness of being a new mom. The more I practiced, the more I felt this incredible, unexpected shift. My body changed, but there was a greater transformation that occurred within. I felt more grounded, more resilient, more open to life, and more confident in who I was becoming.

I'm a graduate of the 200-hour Ashaya Yoga Training that I took at Buddha Rider in Collingwood and began teaching in 2016. I also recently obtained my Certification in Life Coaching and Life Purpose Coaching. I'm so grateful to share my experiences with those who come to class and blessed to learn something from each new person I encounter. I bring the perfect mix of breathing and movement to each and every class. My belief is we can all live a little healthier, breathe a little easier, and be a little happier on this beautiful journey we call life.

My students and clients are what motivates me every day. When I watch them grow and evolve in their practice on their mats and take what they learn off their mats into their everyday lives!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is learning the value of my self-worth. Learning that my time and what I offer are important and valuable.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is learning that not everyone will want to see you succeed. The people that you think will show up don't, and then people that you think won't show up do! Learning who wants to see you succeed and who doesn't are one of the toughest. Even in the health and wellness industry, there are those kinds of people!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your worth.
  2. Don't give up because it gets hard.
  3. Remember your why.
