What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a specialist cleaning company focusing on Mental Health Crisis Cleaning, Hoarding, Probate Services, and Trauma Cleaning. We also provide commercial and carpet cleaning services.

Tell us about yourself

My husband first started the business in 2011 when he was made redundant, and we had two babies. I went back to work to support him. In 2016 the business was growing, so I left my 9-5 and joined the business. We started providing employment and built a team. Through COVID, we got into specialist cleaning. It's a privilege working with people in need and being a small part of their journeys.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We've never put ourselves forward for any rewards. Personally, my biggest achievement is the feedback we get from the people and organisations we work for. Knowing you are making a difference in someone's life and doing something you love is a blessing.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Switching off from the business, We've got a lot better at it now. Weekends are for family and downtime, and evenings are for rest. We now take holidays. It has taken a long time to change this habit, but it is so important. We advocate work/life balance with our staff, so it makes sense to lead by example.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Surround yourself with other like-minded business owners. They will support you and help you grow, and it is invaluable.
Get the balance right from the start, so the business doesn't consume you. You can't serve others unless you are serving yourself.
Do something you love and have passion for. This is the key to success.
