Simplify & Streamline - Launch with Jacki & Co.
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jacki Hayes, Founder of Launch with Jacki & Co., located in Des Moines, IA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Launch with Jacki & Co. is a boutique agency partnering with coaches to launch and run their group programs with ease.
Tell us about yourself
I found my footing in the entrepreneurial world as a virtual assistant in 2021 after decades in training & development and project management. I loved supporting coaches as they launched and scaled their group programs by fine-tuning their operations. But as I realized that more and more of my client check-ins transformed into launch strategy and planning sessions, I saw an opportunity to help coaches launch with more ease and less burnout. I earned my online business management certification, shifted gears, and opened my agency in December 2021.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is learning that there's really no such thing as failure in the entrepreneurial journey. No matter what you try, there is always something to learn. Learning to approach my business and all the elements within it as a series of experiments has helped me stay objective and find those lessons.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that have come with being a business owner, especially someone who loves what she does and who she works with, is to turn the business brain off and enjoy the rest of my life.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My top 3 tips for starting, running, and growing a business are:
- Find your people. Not your clients but the community of other business owners who are approaching businesses like yours and can be there to support you.
- Throw out the "best practices" rule book and run your business in a way that feels good to you and your best-fit clients.
- Know exactly why you're building this business and keep that as your priority above all else. For instance, if your running your business for time freedom, be sure you don't overlook your calendar and leave yourself without time to enjoy all other aspects of your life.
