Indulge in Pampering: Treat Yourself Right - Latika Beauty

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mazzi Peled, Founder of Latika Beauty, located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Latika Beauty aims to inspire self-care through fun, giftable bath & body products.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Mazzi, my husband Erez and I co-founded Latika in 2012 after moving to Austin. My aromatherapist mother taught me all about natural cosmetic products and cold-processed soaps. I eventually went on to study natural apothecary myself. That knowledge and a love for design sparked Latika, a self-care brand that combines excellent ingredients with elevated design. We are passionate about the potential of self-care as a form of empowerment.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I am very proud of the fact that we are building a company that serves not only our customers but also our team. We have a strong team that stays on board for extended periods. I feel like that is a huge accomplishment and a big goal that we continuously work on achieving. As business owners, we feel responsible for our team's livelihood and sense of fulfillment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

That depends on the business development timeline; the challenges constantly change as you learn, evolve, and focus on your goals. I would say that hiring is always a challenge; we take the commitment to our team members seriously and try to find employees that will thrive in the environment we developed at Latika.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Invest in developing support systems for your personal life and your business. Find communities that are a good fit for you, contribute to them, and learn from them.
  2. Educate yourself about business and your specific field. Read, ask, and hire experts.
  3. Put systems in place- it may require more time and energy at first, but in the long run, you will have streamlined more processes and release yourself from dealing with things that can distract you from the forward-thinking required to lead your business.
  4. Take GOOD care of your mind and body. Prioritize and schedule it. I'm still working on it. It's not easy, but it's a big one!
