Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Larissa Wild, Owner of Larissa Wild Fine Art Consulting, located in Eagle, CO, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I started Larissa Fine Art Consulting in 2015. I handle both arts consulting, and I am also a certified appraiser of personal property from the International Society of Appraisers. In many ways, I see my role as a translator – creating a bridge for people to help them to get what they want by transforming their likes into tangible art.
My clients range from those needing appraisals for tax or donation purposes to those discerning clients who understand the benefits of working with an advisor who can guide them wisely.
Tell us about yourself
With over 20 years of experience as an art connoisseur, businesswoman, and art dealer, my passion for art began early in life. Art school provided me with a unique connection to the world. The creative process of taking a belief, an idea, or a vision and turning it into something physical was magical. I received my degree in Fine Art at the National Art School in Sydney, Australia, in 2000.
I worked at the Australian Center for Contemporary Photography. Moving to the USA, I used my position as Gallery Director for six years to connect to art and people. It was here that I was able to develop an understanding of the process of acquiring an art collection and why people buy the art they do.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to work in my zone of genius makes me fulfilled and excited about the next day.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Wearing all the hats to start is the hardest part!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Start documenting your systems as you work out your process this way. When you get to the point where you need to hire, you have the tools in place!
