Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Allie Lyttle, owner of Lala's Too, located in Brighton, MI, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Lala's Too is an elevated comfort food and grab-and-go destination. Our customers are families, busy working folks, empty nesters, and everyone in between.
Tell us about yourself
I am 35 years old and a married Mom of two young girls (four years and nine months). I started my business because I wanted to have more control over the work I was doing and the time I was able to spend with my girls. They are my motivator for everything that I do. It is hard & exhausting, but I hope I am teaching them if you grind hard enough, you can accomplish whatever you dream.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Getting everything up and running.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The juggle of having to do basically everything with little to no help. We have a very small team, so a lot of what needs to be done daily has to be done by me, and that can get very daunting to juggle.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Invest in advertising/marketing. Make sure you budget for it!
- Throw all of what you THINK owning a business is away, and just go into it with an open mind.
- Keep going. You'll want to quit a lot. But it's so worth it to keep going.
