What's your business, and who are your customers?
Ladies Get Paid provides tools, resources, and education for women who want to level up professionally, personally, and financially, with over 60,000 members worldwide.
Tell us about yourself
I've always been incredibly passionate about women's empowerment, but a personal experience involving a male coworker making over twice my salary is what drove me to start my business. At the time, I didn't know what to do or where to go to figure out what to do, and I want Ladies Get Paid to be a place where women know they can come to find what they need to solve their challenges and advance in their careers.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We hosted an amazing 1,000-woman conference in 2019 with over 50 speakers and 40 workshop sessions. While our events always drive huge impact, it was incredibly powerful to provide a space for women to come together and learn things that will make their lives better. I also got to interview Mia Hamm during the 2015 Women's World Cup, a huge personal highlight for me!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
At the end of the day, the buck stops with you! This means you're financially responsible for not only yourself but for anyone who works for you, and I take that responsibility very seriously.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't be afraid to do things that might not work.
- Learn how to move on quickly when things go wrong.
- Reframe "failures" as valuable information you learn from.
