Tell us about yourself
My name is Lacey Turner (AKA G Souldier), and I am living proof that nothing is impossible as long as you set your mind in motion for action. Born and Raised in St. Louis, MO, I have spent most of my life knowing that writing, directing, producing, and improving the world is what I was born to do. My passion goes back to my childhood, as I encountered the hardship and injustice of being black. From a young age, I learned that music, writing, and voicing my opinion were the only way I would succeed in a world that was not equally established.
Throughout the years, I took every opportunity to learn and gain skills in a business that can be tough, especially as a young, up-coming, and knowledge-hungry black man. My passion is to embark on a journey in filmmaking, music, writing, and being an activist that will change the world. I'm a multi-dimensional talent and firmly believe that hard work, creativity, and dedication will help manifest my visions into the world. I strive to produce films and music that demonstrates world issues and that one person, one voice, can and will truly impact the world. My work is integrated into activism to prove how much work is still needed to be done to bring peace and human rights to the world.
My work connects with the audience on a different level as I feel a sense of obligation to my viewers. I understand the fundamentals of filmmaking, yet it is also cutting-edge and able to foreshadow the genre's growth. Someone who commands attention and exudes confidence but is also easy to work with. My music style is diverse, and I can create music that appeals to all audiences. I carry my talent further by writing about real-life issues and transmitting them into my activism.
My commitment to bringing positive changes to the world led me to become an advisory board member for the JB Dondolo Organization, the front leader in supporting underserved communities with water and hygiene products. The essential need in this world is water. No water – no life – no world!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is putting a smile on the faces of my clients and every person I come in contact with. Knowing that I made a great impact on their life some way and somehow. I get satisfaction knowing I helped others and created some type of change.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about becoming a business owner is trying to succeed in an industry where competition is at an all-time high.
