Shabby Chic Style Pastry Shop & Tea Room

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a Tea room with a bakery shop. It's a local shop in La Prairie. It is the "Chic pastry" of the city. We have a lot of clients that came from other cities, though, because it is the only tea house style cozzy (shabby chic) on the south shore of Montreal.

Tell us about yourself

I'm an architect and became a pastry chef. I always dreamt of having a tea house, so I prepared all my life for this. I worked on my project for almost three years before opening my business. I studied a lot to become an entrepreneur.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

It is to get through the pandemic. I started in 2021 in the middle of the pandemic, and we survived! I received some prices for my business that I'm really honored of.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The most difficult is to know when it is the limit to stop and start delegating. Family is very important, and I was not always present for them in the first year. That isn't easy to manage!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Try to find the most qualified personnel to start. They know what they do, and they will guide you to start up with not much risk.
Try not to wait for results the first time; the time of sowing is necessary.
Save Money for the moments that you will have to support your business.

Make everything your image. Don't listen to people that never made your path before. Listen to your heart and do what you want!
