Innovative Growth Strategies for Physicians - KypsKare

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Kristina Kypuros, Founder of KypsKare LLC, located in San Antonio, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a consultant who helps other physicians pivot to accelerate their growth inside and outside of traditional medicine. My expertise lies in negotiating physician Locums contracts directly with the hospital, creating a multimillion-dollar real estate portfolio, and learning about product development.

Tell us about yourself

I started my business out of a desire to help others reach their potential and live their best life. I have a passion for helping and empowering other physicians or high-income earners to reach their limitless life. Seeing the progress and growth of my clients is incredibly rewarding and keeps me motivated to continue my work. I am a board-certified Pediatrician and Pediatric Critical Care Intensivist, Innovator, Investor, and Visionary. I started off my journey the traditional way as an academic physician, shifted to private practice, and now practice medicine as a full-time locums physician. The crisis in corporate America allowed me to pivot out of necessity, but I now have gratitude for the opportunities that it unleashed. I want to make sure my fellow colleagues know they have options when they are trading time for money. I love it because I get to design my week, my month, and my year. I practice medicine on my terms, allowing me to pursue other adventures.

I am taking a product idea to prototype and re-engaging as a scientist.
Furthermore, my husband and I work as a team to invest in real estate and provide comfortable homes for the families we serve. The beauty of this design is that I get to spend more time with my family, and it provides flexibility. As I have learned to design my life, I want to enable others to do the same.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been helping clients find clarity and progress in their lives to reach their goals. I've been fortunate to witness my clients make major life changes, and humbling to be a part of their journeys.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is creating and sustaining an amazing team with the mindset to propel themselves and the business's mission. I work a lot on a positive and growth mindset to create a culture code in the company for teamwork, safety, and purpose. Being a business owner requires a lot of hard work and dedication, and there will be moments when it's difficult to stay motivated. However, I reflect on my values and my "why?" to stay grounded.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Stay organized: Make sure you have a plan and a system in place to keep track of your goals, tasks, and progress.
  2. Prioritize: Prioritize the tasks that are most important for the growth of your business and focus your energy on those.
  3. Network: Networking is key for any business. You never know where a great connection can take you.
  4. Get feedback: Ask for feedback from your customers and colleagues to gain insight into what works and what needs improvement.
