Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Krystle Kreway, Owner of Kynd Chiropractic, located in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own a chiropractic business focused on the health and well-being of all my patients. We treat anyone whose goals include improving their health and creating ease in their daily living. Our patients are wide-ranging they include babies, weekend warriors, professional athletes, and seniors.

Our main goal is to ensure all of our patients feel like they are being heard and taken care of. Our approach extends beyond traditional chiropractic adjustments and aims to address the body as a whole. We focus on soft tissue manipulation and exercise rehab so our patients can return to optimal living.

Tell us about yourself

I started Kynd Chiropractic because I wanted to share my passion for health and wellness within the community. Prior to opening, I felt like I was getting stuck in not having a voice. I wanted to be a leader in the community and show people the possibilities that open up when you treat yourself and others with kindness.

My goal was to create a space for people to come and get treated where they left not only feeling relieved of any physical symptoms but also more energized, lighter, and happier. I truly believe health extends beyond treatment it is a process of trust, communication, laughter, and willingness to work together. Seeing others around me succeed motivates me to show up every day to work with a smile on my face.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Beyond reflecting on the growth my business has achieved, my biggest accomplishment is living life alongside my patients and being able to witness their goals come to life. Hearing about their accomplishments and knowing I played a part in their success, large or small, makes me proud that I’ve done my job.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the most challenging things is taking time in my day to turn my brain off from work. It’s easy to fall into the habit of constantly thinking about daily operations, next goals, how to be more efficient, or replying to messages. Owning a business is very time-consuming, and I’m learning to take a moment every day to stop, breathe, and trust that things will work out as they are supposed to.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Remember to take time to pursue the things you love doing. Personally, I love to run. Every week I make it a priority to get my training in and accomplish the goals I’ve set for myself. Having a hobby like running has forced me to take time for myself, helped me recharge during the hard days, and kept me connected with my friends.
  2. Keep going. It sounds cliche, but trust me, keep going. The hard days make the good days feel great. Pushing through when times are difficult results in so much growth on the other side. And always remember to reach out to others when you feel like things aren’t going your way.
  3. Creating connections with others will take you so far. I’ve learned that the more you put your authentic self out there, the more similar people will come into your life. I’ve seen first-hand how many go-getters are out there ready to support your business.
