What's your business, and who are your customers?
I love to create custom and quirky, one-of-a-kind pottery pieces. Over the years, it's been my passion to openly share the tricks of the trade of being a clay artist.
Tell us about yourself
I started by taking a 6-week class with the hopes of becoming a professional potter. I quickly realized that it was going to take more than 6 weeks. Eighteen years later, I now have a full studio in my home and am teaching 6-week classes at a local nonprofit art school.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I would have to say building my in-home studio. It is so freeing to be able to work with my chosen art medium at home and to be in complete control of the artistic pottery process.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The reality is that I alone am responsible for my financial stability. This is empowering as a single woman who runs her own business and scary as hell at the same time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be okay with starting slowly and letting it grow. Have faith in your ability and believe that you will be successful. Also, keep in mind just like a good day won't last forever, neither will a bad one. You can do this!!
