What's your business, and who are your customers?
I founded an e-learning exam prep company for the U.S. CPA accounting exams. My services are for any individual pursuing the U.S. CPA accounting exams, which is a highly respected certification in the U.S.
Tell us about yourself
When I was preparing for my accounting exams, I noticed a gap in the current educational offerings. There wasn't enough visual teaching to emphasize difficult accounting concepts. I quickly realized that I could combine my passion for teaching to meet the need the market has for engaging educational videos. I work hard every day to help students pass the CPA exams with as little time and stress as possible.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My greatest accomplishment will always be helping students to pass their CPA exams. I have helped over 20 students to pass their exams.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Having the patience to see your business grow and develop momentum. In the first few years, no one knows your brand, and it feels as if you're getting nowhere. Over time, however, customers use your products and share their positive experiences, creating an unstoppable force of growth and momentum.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First, give yourself two years of hard work before you even consider throwing in the towel.
Second, read "Company of One" by Paul Jarvis.
Third, learn about as many stories of other entrepreneurs as possible. You will quickly see that almost every entrepreneur faces the same journey, even if it looks a little different.
