What's your business, and who are your customers?
A vegan-certified spa that offers alternative medicinal treatments fueled by tea. Our customers are skin enthusiasts who consider their skin wellness a lifestyle and choose to enhance their aesthetic organically.
Tell us about yourself
The funny thing is going into my boss babe journey; I didn’t even know what an esthetician was. I started as an online herbal tea company. My herbal teas had beauty benefits because I’ve always been a beauty enthusiast. My online brand had scaled to a point where I needed a physical location. I was set on a salon suite in Smyrna. Unfortunately, however, I was told that I could only rent it if I offered a service. Not so unfortunate, I made a way. I studied at YouTube University to learn facial techniques and formulated masks to do them with. After almost 50 facials, I was asked, “Are you a licensed esthetician?” I was floored. I can get board certified in…skin?! It was up from there. I got licensed, got a spa, and added a multi-salon suites unit to the roster. I’m motivated by this unexpected journey. When I think back to how I was guided into this position, I know I was destined. I’m motivated by living in my purpose.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being featured on Lifetime TV (and they reached out to me!).
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Knowing that everything that happens to that spa/salon is solely your responsibility. You have to deal with clashing employee personalities, leaks, and WiFi issues.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Just do it!
- Build your business credit right away.
- Don’t get caught up in what other brands are doing. Water your own grass.
