What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a yoga teacher. I provide handstand & yoga tutorials.

Tell us about yourself

I found yoga at 23 after I was in a car accident that left me with torn meniscus in both knees. I healed my knees with yoga, and that has motivated me to want to share this practice with as many people as possible! Yoga has impacted not only my physical health but my mental well-being as well. It is such a gift, and I am lucky I get it with others!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of the things that I am most proud of is jumping on the Instagram platform early and growing it organically to 223,000 followers. When I got on it in 2013, a lot of people criticized what I was doing and thought it was a waste of time, but it has been a great thing for my business, and I am lucky I found it early.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Self-motivation can be tough at times. There is always more that you can do and should do, but sometimes it can be tough when you are your own boss. You don’t have anyone to hold you accountable besides yourself.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in yourself. It has to start there. If you are not 100% in, nobody else will either.
  2. Trust your instincts! Your hunches and intuition are there for a reason!
  3. Know your worth. This is one I am always working on. When you love what you do, it can be tempting to ask for too little, but you deserve to be fairly compensated.
