Tutorials, Education and Filmmaking - Kristofh Pozo

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kristofh Pozo, an Ecuadorian filmmaker based in Miami, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have been in the industry for almost 12 years, shooting commercials, short films, music videos, and tutorials for different companies and artists worldwide.

Tell us about yourself

At the end of high school, I still was lost about what direction I wanted professionally. It's hard for a 17 years old kid to decide what to do for the rest of his life. I got the chance to enroll in a work skills program in London, where I purchased my first camera, and I fell completely in love with it. In the beginning, I was pursuing leaving my mark on this world with my work, but nowadays, I switched it to "doing what I do to leave a mark on my own life," which really moves me every day to give my best.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've been working with big brands and artists lately; I feel more humble and willing to learn than ever; there is no biggest accomplishment for me. There are always new achievements every day, one step at a time. I've had the opportunity to earn national and international film prizes, but I'm still eager to go for more.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Making choices and prioritizing processes is an everyday task. It's easy to be involved in the creative process, but we don't have to forget the business model; that's one of the most difficult parts of being a freelance or business owner. Wisdom comes by making mistakes and getting experience; it takes time and effort, so be a good leader who shows that everyone has weaknesses, but hard work and discipline are the keys to success.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Surround yourself with experienced people, take risks, and always have a backup plan.
