Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health & wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kristin Santamaria, Founder of Kristin Elle Wellness LLC, located in Allen, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Kristin Elle Wellness helps couples dealing with fertility challenges reclaim their journey and restore faith in their bodies through nutrition and lifestyle changes. We see a fertility journey as an incredible opportunity to improve your health and the health of your future family! We work on changing the perspective and inviting JOY back into clients' lives so they may get back to enjoying their life and looking forward to improvements in their health as they prepare their bodies for a healthy pregnancy.

Tell us about yourself

My own secondary fertility struggle was the catalyst for so many changes in my life, my life health, and my career. I was working as a corporate attorney when life suddenly dealt me an unexpected hand as my husband and I went through many years and miscarriages in trying to conceive our second child. It was after the first IUI that I experienced a tragic partial molar pregnancy, and I knew at that point that I needed to focus on doing what I could to improve my health before trying to conceive again. I dove head-first into functional nutrition, and my life, my health, and the health of my family were completely changed. After that, I started nutrition school at the Nutritional Therapy Association and have fully transitioned to my nutrition practice. Seeing similar changes and transformations in the lives of my clients motivates me each day to serve my community well and continue learning.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Taking the leap of faith to start my nutrition business was one of the hardest and easiest decisions of my life, and I'm proud to be following my passion after leaving a successful 9-year legal career. A career change can be scary, especially when it involves leaving the security of a well-paying and secure job to start your own business, but following a passion can be incredibly rewarding.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

After so many years at a law firm, learning to work on my own timeline and prioritize my own goals for my business has been a huge perspective shift for me and more difficult than expected. Learning to trust your own intuition in how to move forward in your business is an incredible learning experience for entrepreneurs.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Make sure you are passionate about your business and what you want to achieve with it. Dive deep into the communities that you will be serving (and have a personal connection with those communities). There will be times when things in your business are overwhelming, and having this personal connection can drive you forward. Finally, don't put off starting your online presence or growing your community while you wait for everything to be "perfect" - just start where you are, and you will find those who need to hear your message!
