What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Krista Yaskiw Coaching, and I am a Couples Coach committed to helping relationships REVIVE and THRIVE! I'm a certified life & relationship coach with more than a decade of experience in couples counselling, looking to help couples along their journey to major relationship transformation. I provide virtual couples coaching that takes into consideration unique relationship challenges, roadblocks, and strengths to help couples reach their relationship vision.
In addition, I facilitate The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work Couples Workshop based on the internationally acclaimed research of Dr. John Gottman as presented in his New York Times bestselling book—The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. This international workshop has strengthened the relationships of tens of thousands of couples. It's specifically designed to help partners improve their friendship and learn meaningful communication and conflict management skills.
Finally, I am a published author of the book The Daily Check-in: A Journal for Couples. My clients tell me this simple tool has had the biggest impact on their relationships! This couple's journal consists of a few simple prompts that create big results around communication and connection.
Tell us about yourself
I have worked as an Addiction Counsellor for the last 15 years, where I work extensively with couples and facilitating groups on healthy relationships for people who have struggled with addiction and mental health. Working with couples and seeing their relationships (and lives!) transform has been the most rewarding part of my career as a public servant. In the spirit of doing more of what I love and making an even bigger impact in an area I thrive in, I decided to start my own business helping couples, and hence, Krista Yaskiw Coaching was born. Seeing the progress and change in my client's relationships motivates me to keep doing what I am doing!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Saying YES to myself! I had the dream of having my own business and working exclusively with couples for a long time, but I didn't dare tell anyone as I already had a stable, reliable career. However, during covid, I was supporting my mom through a health crisis, and I realized life is too short, and I had to honor my dreams and pursue my passion.
In addition, publishing The Daily Check-in: A Journal for Couples has also been a huge accomplishment. Seeing an idea come to life is extremely rewarding, and I am proud to have created a tool that I know can help couples reconnect.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Juggling it all!! I still work as an addiction counsellor while running my own business, all while trying to manage the role of wife and mom to my two daughters.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Go for it! Forget about the fear of judgement and stop ignoring those whispers in the back of your mind. Just put yourself out there.
- If it's right, it won't feel like work. I have been having so much fun falling in love with the business I am developing.
- Build yourself a community. Connecting with like-minded entrepreneurs is imperative so you can ask questions, gain support, and build each other up!
