Tell us about yourself
I had been working at an executive level in the healthcare world before beginning my coaching career. The burnout experienced by the frontline workers directly reflected the lack of leadership, disjointed communication from the c-suite, and lack of a unified mission. These things needed to change, and they needed to change from the top down. That is when I began working with executives to enhance their skills to implement fundamental changes within their organizations. This, then, made long-lasting and sustainable changes for the individuals providing care each day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have enjoyed the big successes for organizations, both financially and fundamentally, but the moments of gratitude shared by individuals have given me true fulfillment.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I believe in balancing the financial needs and growth potential with the meaning and mission. People have a very challenging and deep-seated relationship with money they are often unaware of. It can really make or break personal fulfillment and growth.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start living it now. Even if you still have another job, don't have the name, or are not even sure how to develop the product! Start walking in the shoes of a business owner now. Talk about it, schedule it in your day, and even address yourself as the "business owner" that you are.
- Growth is not linear. Start accepting and accepting the peaks and valleys this road will take. This way, you won't be surprised, and you won't take it personally. It's business!
- Don't use time as a measure of success. Good things take time, and good businesses require time.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
You are also extremely valuable in your life and career if you do not want to own a business. The meaningful contributions you make in life don't only come with "Inc." at the end. It is important to follow your own path to fulfillment, not the paths you see others on. You are unique, and so are your needs.
