Get Fit and Healthy - Konfidant1
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Brenda Chung, CEO of Konfidant1, located in Ajax, ON, CA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is teaching a variety of physical activity exercise classes, including weight training, cardio kickboxing, high/low cardio, Core Abs, and Dance exercise. My customers are very inclusive, men, women, children (children excluding weight classes), all fitness levels, including classes for unique groups such as The Olive Branch of Hope, which support Black Women with Breast Cancer, and Dr. Roz Healing Place, which is a Center of empowerment and healing for Mental Health.
Tell us about yourself
After attending many fitness classes over the years, I developed a deep passion for Health and Fitness because of how it made me look and feel. It helped me to lose the weight I gained from having children. I began to look better, resulting in me feeling better about myself. This was when I knew so many people could benefit from a regular exercise program.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is helping people feel better about themselves. Exercise not only makes you look better but also makes you feel better. It helps people have more self-confidence and a healthier and happier state of mind through the release of serotonin, the happy chemical released into the body while doing exercise, and gives you an overall greater enjoyment of life.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The most difficult thing is to keep people motivated to be consistent with the exercise programs. Many people sign up for the exercise program but can fall back into being comfortable with not exercising regularly over time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Go for it. Many people are afraid to get started. Get started, even if it is just one small task.
- Never give up. No matter what you may face, always remember why you started.
- Have fun. Come up with ways to make things fun for you and your clients. Enjoy what you do every day.
