Full of Taste - Kombucha Queen

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Erica Chemolli, Founder of Kombucha Queen, located in Miami Beach, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I produce organic kombucha locally in Miami. Kombucha Queen is keto-friendly, with only 2 g of sugar and 2 g of carbs. My customers are healthy people and healthy concept stores and places.

Tell us about yourself

When I was 19, I lost my mom in a car accident, and I have since started to develop a skin disorder called vitiligo. Wanted to try to heal naturally using natural remedies. I published a book on Amazon where I have gathered all the info called keep calm e’ solo vitiligine. The book is written in Italian only.Reading it for in contact with the world of kombucha, this magic green tea full of benefits and healthy properties.

Being passionate about fitness, I didn’t want to drink tons of sugar and carbs. The majority of the real kombucha on the market has a lot of sugar and carbs. So I have started to produce mine. :)

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I was able to reach several goals in several fields.

  • Real estate wise as well. I own a beautiful B&B and a bistro cafe’ in one of the beautiful medieval villages of Italy @canaleditenno
  • I sell healthy products to the military commissaries - to me, it’s a joy to spread healthy thanks to my work @gourmetitalia.com
  • Building and growth with my brand of kombucha. It was an idea that became a reality. The panda logo represents my vitiligo.
I was born in a little village ( north part of Italy ) of 800 people in the middle of vineyards and now living in Miami, which is another accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

You don’t have a boss. So you need to decide what to do and what the best strategy is to have a full vision of the project. To me, it is like playing chess: you need to think, analyze, etc. There is no hour of work, in essence. You work with flexibility all the time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You need to have a vision.
  2. You need to be willing to work hard.
  3. You need to be passionate, and you need to love yourself.
  4. You need to be a visionary at the same time, willing to take risks without running out of money.
