Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business solutions but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kristian Tomashevski, CEO of KMT Solutions, located in The Hague, Netherlands.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

KMT Solutions is a recruitment startup that supports tech startups and scale-ups around Europe in building their teams. We aim to bring back the human touch in the tech business and spend a lot of time tailoring the approach according to the client's cultural values. We have an integral recruitment model that looks into creating a specific product for each client from three main aspects: creating the overall talent strategy for the company, searching and selecting new talents according to the company's needs, and coaching the internal talent for approaching career successes.

Tell us about yourself

When I moved to the Netherlands with my family, I reflected a lot on my next career move. My partner and I thought about going entrepreneurial, combining our strengths. I have a lot of people management experience from my time as a Hotel Manager in Macedonia, Greece, and Dubai. My partner is a psychologist, Career Coach, and Executive Recruiter with more than 10 years of international experience across many branches. So, we decided to build up a company that will combine our passion for people and the will to make an impact in the tech market, being the most prosperous yet most challenging field at the moment. What motivates me every day is the possibility of modeling my work so that I can make the utmost impact on my clients and on the candidates' lives. Knowing that you have made a match that is a win-win for both sides gives me the satisfaction of my work that no money can buy.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is the possibility of creating a workspace for myself, my partner, and my team that encourages authenticity, freedom, and creativity. I believe that the best success lies in the life-work balance and the opportunity to create a stress-free environment for each person that supports your mission by being part of your company. Also, being able to have stable clients and a profitable company from year one, even though I am new on the Dutch market and work solely on creating personalized approaches with potential clients, gives me the greatest satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I would say one of the hardest things is the opportunity to create stability (which you need to run your company smoothly) in such an unstable time and market. It takes a lot of resilience, flexibility, the ability to pivot quickly, and a lot of conversations and support from peer entrepreneurs to stay steady in stormy weather.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If it went through your head, you have to do it! :D Not everyone gets the drive to go entrepreneurial. Acknowledge that and get going.
  2. Be flexible and adaptable. It's the only way to survive in nowadays business world.
  3. Believe in yourself, even though no one does. But also, locate and consult the relevant people that can help you build your business idea and make it work. Even the ones you see as competitors are willing to give advice, as we are all there to improve the market and level up the game!
