Cocktails with Passion & Experience - Kitty on Top Bartending

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Khamila Barnes, founder of Kitty on Top Bartending, LLC., located in Dresher, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own a mobile bartending business that travels to your residence, event space, and any other on-site destination in the tri-state and NYC area.

Tell us about yourself

I have had a love for libations and curating cocktails since I was a teen! I fell in love with bartending after seeing a Disaronno commercial; it seemed so simple yet, artistic! My motivation is my surrounding. I get ideas for new cocktails and pairings by going outside, going to grocery stores, and going to craft bars. I enjoyed the presentation piece, and I definitely enjoyed the creation and finished product.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to do what I love and getting paid for it.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Attempting to gain business without sounding like a salesperson or inadvertently doing a sales pitch. My clients/friends have been supportive because of who I am, my personality, and my expertise, and I sometimes lose sight of that.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do not give up!
  2. Be optimistic, yet, be realistic!
  3. Make excellent customer service a priority!
