Revolutionizing Musculoskeletal Treatment - Kinotek
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Joey Spitz, COO of Kinotek Inc., located in Portland, ME, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Kinotek is a B2B SaaS platform that is a disruptor in the $57 billion global musculoskeletal healthcare market. Its innovative application measures a joint range of motion faster and better than the current method while delivering a 3D visualization of a client or patient's body movement. We serve physical therapists, chiropractors, strength and conditioning coaches, and other professional clinicians and help the health of their clients, who include everyone from ordinary people recovering from surgery, and those experiencing age-related challenges, to student and professional athletes.
Tell us about yourself
I am attracted by the idea of using technology to help humanity--imagine when we can help people, anyone--including those injured, older athletes--improve faster and better because we helped. Imagine if we can prevent getting hurt in the first place. This potential is exciting and motivating for me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We have taken a concept and made it a reality through a culture we've built that is collaborative, curious, creative, and relentless in pursuing our vision. I am proud to be a part of having built this team.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Staying even-keeled. There are good days when you think you are on your way to something huge and bad days when you worry that you are on your way to failure. The key is never letting yourself get too high or low. I try to put aside the myopic day-to-day and focus on the big picture.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Obsess over the customer problem first. Design your product/solution only after you deeply understand your customer's point of view.
- Never give up when you face challenges. Tomorrow is a new day, and you'll have new ideas.
- Hire for attitude first, specific talent second.
- Bonus tip: Embrace the cringe. If you don't look back for six months and cringe over what you were doing, then you aren't growing. Challenge yourself and take yourself out of your comfort zone.
