What's your business, and who are your customers?
King's Dream Business Consulting empowers small businesses and districts by providing affordable growth services. To serve the underserved, disadvantaged business owner populations in America, King's Dream Consulting works with early-stage entrepreneurs to help them launch or grow their business dream into reality.
Tell us about yourself
I started business consulting as a passion project while working at a traditional, prominent Silicon Valley corporate startup. My goal was to save up the funds to establish my consulting firm to work in support of reducing the racial wealth gap in Seattle.
The timeline and national market completely changed when COVID-19 forced many of those same businesses to close, revealing the economic disparities for the most marginalized business owner populations.
I am motivated by providing growth resources and holding the hands of America's fearless, community-minded entrepreneurs. They are willing to risk everything in exchange for financial freedom.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is having such an impact in my home state. Though we consult small businesses across the country, it has been beyond rewarding to become integrated with Seattle's local business ecosystem.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The frequent and often unnoticed self-sacrifice. There is never enough time, there will never be enough money, and there certainly is no shortage of business ideas. Finding and protecting a balanced life that offers fulfillment is my driver for business success and Financial freedom to enjoy my time here on Earth.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find a team you can trust. Business ownership is a relay and a team sport.
- Find a passion outside the business to maintain balance and avoid burnout.
- Find a "why?" that is larger than yourself and others that share in your dream. This is the vision.
